At Cutler Real Estate, we know people make the biggest difference here in Northeast Ohio. Building a team of real estate experts who care is the key to helping our buyers and sellers. When someone in our team stands out, we celebrate their achievements alongside them.
Realtor Dominic J. Fonte Jr., an important part of the Cutler Real Estate team, was recently featured in Top 100 People in Real Estate Magazine. This isn't the first time Dominic's hard work, dedication, and care have gotten attention from industry press, but it is one of the biggest awards out there.
Top 100 People is a publisher that shines a spotlight on thought leaders in various professional fields such as law and finance. A panel of distinguished judges selects the individuals featured in each publication. With so many luminaries out there, the choice is always a difficult one.
Dominic was selected from a competitive field of dozens of real estate professionals from all around the United States. The Top 100 People in Real Estate Magazine write-up lauds him for his hard work and his down-to-earth nature, focusing on what's most important: The people he serves.
With 30 years of experience and more than 3,000 transactions behind him, Dominic has built his career brick by brick. In addition to his work with Cutler Real Estate, he is also known for his eponymous firm, Dominic Fonte & Associates, which has earned hundreds of high-flying reviews and testimonials.
Describing his approach to real estate leadership, Dominic says, "an informed decision-maker is a happy decision-maker." Long before today's modern real estate marketing, Dominic was on the cutting edge of his field by building his entire approach around his clients and their specific needs.
Every client is unique, so Dominic prides himself on the personal touch.
For years, a dedication to personal service has been at the forefront of Dominic's philosophy. "We take whatever time is needed to make sure [our clients] feel calm and confident throughout the process," he's quoted as saying. That includes communication before, during, and after a transaction.
With more than 330 reviews on the Cutler Real Estate website alone, it's clear that Dominic has made a strong impression. "Dominic is the real deal," raves one customer. "He did an AMAZING job." Another says: "Dominic made the experience of selling ... very seamless and stress-free."
He has also been called "a real pleasure to work with" and "a true professional."
Although he is very approachable, Dominic's sharp intellect helps him look beyond the obvious so his clients can make the most of any market conditions. He has helped buyers and sellers alike navigate major events like the Gulf War, 2008 recession, and the COVID-19 pandemic. He excels at providing advice about opportunities at times when it is difficult for the average person to uncover the full truth about the market.
Dominic's personal traits have been a big part of his success in real estate. From the beginning, he was self-motivated and eager to innovate. Living in North Canton with his family, he believes others would describe him as "honest," one of the most important aspects of connecting with others in real estate.
Dominic attributes some of his success to his deep roots in the area. Born and raised in Northeast Ohio, his five children have been through the North Canton area school system. Highly involved in the community ever since attaining Eagle Scout status as a young man, he has served on the North Canton city council for close to a decade.
All in all, we here at Cutler Real Estate are honored to work with Dominic J. Fonte Jr.! We look forward to standing beside him for many years and hundreds of transactions to come. We believe we can speak for the Northeast Ohio real estate community when we salute Dominic for his tireless efforts.
If you need real estate insights, you can count on Dominic and the rest of the Cutler Real Estate team are here to serve you. Contact us today to learn more or get started.

The design and backstory of Maltz Performing Arts Center are as compelling as the events that take place inside it. Founded in 1850 as a temple for the local Reform Jewish congregation, the building has a unique heptagonal shape to fit the lot's odd configuration while approximating a circle, symbolizing unity. Thanks to the creative architecture and stunning interior, the building was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. A partnership between the Temple and Case Western Reserve University led to the creation of the Performing Arts Center, which hosts a number of concerts, lectures, and other cultural activities.

While many historical buildings bear the name of their original residents, that's not the case with Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens. "Stan Hywet" is actually an Old English term that translates to "stone quarry," which is a nod to the property's most prominent natural feature. The estate served as the home for the family of F.A. Seiberling, co-founder of Goodyear Tire and Rubber, but they also generously opened their doors to the public for frequent community events. Hours are 10 a.m. - dusk Tuesday through Sunday. The Ohio state flower is the carnation, but there are plenty of other beautiful flowers adding their colors to life throughout the state. One of them is the daffodil. Also known as the narcissus, the daffodil has been a symbol of rebirth for thousands of years because it's one of the first flowers seen every spring.
Realtor Jim Camp of Cutler Real Estate wanted to find a way to honor the nearly 800,000 Americans who have perished due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That figure includes nearly 27,000 Ohioans. Virtually everyone has a friend, neighbor, or family member who has suffered.
Jim is well known as a team player. He believes it's important to come together to tackle big challenges. It's just as crucial to remember our past and where we've come from. As the holiday season arrives, so many people will be thinking about those they've lost. Jim wanted to do his part for their memory.
Jim, the son of a broker, was licensed in Philadelphia at age 18. He settled in Ohio soon afterward and first held his Ohio brokerage license in 1978. Since then, he has had the opportunity to touch the lives of thousands of families and had received heartbreaking news from many people throughout 2020-2021.
To recognize the hard work of frontline workers as well as those lost from Northeast Ohio to Columbus to Cincinnati and beyond, Jim proposed the "Daffodils Across Ohio" service project. The goal was simple: Gather enough daffodils so they could be planted and provide new life all throughout Ohio.
The Buckeye State will now bloom with thousands of daffodils thanks to Jim and his colleagues.
Jim's vision was quickly embraced by his team at Cutler Real Estate. But everyone knew they had to go beyond their own office, even their own network, to make the biggest impact possible. Word spread quickly from Cutler Real Estate through Ohio's community of REALTORS.
All in all, Realtors purchased and planted more than 14,000 daffodil bulbs.
In late November, a donation of 500 bulbs was received at Ohio's statehouse in a grand ceremony. Gov. Mike DeWine, Sen. Jay Hottinger, and a variety of other community figures accepted the donation on behalf of state residents. Jim noted that his idea was inspired by Gov. DeWine's 2019 inauguration speech, where he related that his father, then battling cancer, encouraged his children to plant daffodils in the fall so they would remember him in the spring.
In 2020, Jim received the Mary L. Pollock Lifetime Achievement Award for his decades of tireless service to the real estate profession. "Daffodils Across Ohio" is poised to become another important part of his legacy. It also speaks to the dedication, camaraderie, and community spirit of Ohio's REALTORS®.
Ohio REALTORS® President Seth Task noted that the response of the state's real estate professionals to "Daffodils Across Ohio" was "remarkable." He also thanked Jim for his unique contributions, saying, "each spring, hundreds of daffodils will emerge across the grounds of our beautiful Statehouse." This would serve" as a reminder of our loss and tribute to the can-do spirit of the first-responders and health care professionals."
Here at Cutler Real Estate, we believe in making our community better one day at a time. Homeownership is the way to foster greater stability and commitment within the community. It means a better future for children and more opportunities to start a business, get an education, and advance together.

Evening entertainment includes live music, derbies, and a rodeo. Enjoy thrilling midway rides for only $1 each or $20 for unlimited rides. Gates open at 8 a.m. each day from Sunday, August 22 to Sunday, August 29. Admission is $6, with no charge for kids aged 8 and under. A $30 season pass is good for seven admissions.

The Great Geauga County Fair is just shy of two centuries, but it's twice as much fun as fairs half its age. Founded in 1823, the Great Geauga is the oldest continuous county fair in the state as well as one of the oldest agricultural fairs in the United States. There's fun for the whole family at the Natural Resource Area, which features demonstrations and activities centered around wildlife and environmental awareness. And what's a fair without an apple pie-eating contest? If you're feeling lucky, try your hand at the other family-friendly competitions, including Diaper Dash, Kiddie Tractor Pull, and 4-H 5K. The fair takes place Thursday, September 2 through Monday, September 6. Admission is $10 for ages 7 and above. Buy advance tickets online to save $2 and avoid the lines.

Billed as the "Biggest Little Fair in the World," the Hartford Fair encompasses Licking County along with portions of Delaware and Knox counties. The fair also has a reputation as a reunion spot, as families use the occasion for annual gatherings of relatives from across the distance. Fans of motorsports are in seventh heaven with truck and tractor pulls, autocross, demolition derbies, and monster truck rallies. Even during the fair's earlier days, racing was the main attraction, including a foot race when Maggie McComb beat out William Lane. Fair days run from Sunday, August 8 through Saturday, August 14. Admission is $8 for ages 8 and above.

This year's fair is scheduled for Saturday, September 18 through Saturday, September 25.

September means back to school, and kids won't need any encouragement to attend the "classroom" at the Hardin County Fair. One of the top activities is COSI on Wheels, a traveling outreach program that offers a variety of dynamic interactive experiments. A petting zoo and Columbus Zoo exhibit provide opportunities to get up close and personal with some fascinating animals and birds. Eli the Magician stars in two shows a day and strolls the grounds, delighting fairgoers with amazing tricks. These activities are all included in fair admission, which is $10 for everyone aged 9 and older. Fair dates are Tuesday, September 7 through Sunday, September 12.

City slickers get to learn about life on the farm, including a chance to try their hand at milking a cow. This year's grandstand events include go-kart racing and a soccer mom derby. Fire up your oven and prepare your best pies, cookies, breads, and cakes for the baking competitions. The Hamilton County Fair runs from Thursday, August 12 through Sunday, August 15. On October 21, 1851, it was reported that a "vast throng" attended the first Allen County Fair at Faurot Farm. Today, more than 200,000 visitors attend the annual event, making it one of the top fairs in the state. One of the biggest draws is the top-name entertainment that takes the main stage each year. Vince Gill, Def Leppard, Alabama, and Reba McEntire are just a few of the stars who have appeared at the Allen County Fair. 2021 is no exception, with Brad Paisley as the headliner. Fair days are Friday, August 20 through Saturday, August 28. Admission is $7 for ages 7 and up.
384 Park Ave., Urbana, OH 43078

Admission of $8 includes rides, while tickets for Rock the Fair are an additional $10.

Cutler Real Estate's own Dominic Fonte shared his insight in a recent REAL Pros 20 Minute Webinar Series by REAL Trends discussing today's ever-evolving real estate environment.
Fonte was joined by REAL Trends Vice President Scott Wright, William Coin of Beverly-Hanks REALTORS®, and Wendy Moore of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Drysdale Properties in an effort to highlight how successful agents are adjusting to the current business climate.
REAL Trends provides brokerage services such as consulting, valuations, mergers and acquisitions, and business planning. Brokerages and agents alike look to REAL Trends as a source for news, analysis, and information on the residential brokerage industry. The weekly Trendsetters Agent Panel is just one more way REAL Trends is helping those in the industry move their businesses forward.
Wright asked how agents like Fonte have stayed connected to clients through the COVID-19 health crisis. Fonte said he continues to have success with email videos as a means of keeping in touch with clients, even if they don't plan to buy or sell a home right now.
"Video's huge," he said. "I think when people have a traumatic experience like 9/11, or 2008, or the Gulf War, or what's happening now, it's not our normal lifestyle, and everyone's freaked out … but the old-timers we keep plugging away.
"How I stay connected is instead of doing email, I do email videos, and I make sure I'm reaching out to them," he continues. "Not necessarily if they want to buy or sell, although if they want to of course we'll help them do that. But just educating them, seeing how they're doing, see how their families are, are they getting their yard work done. Just to try to be there and just provide what's really happening from our perspective if they are in the market, how do they do that in a safe manner."
With the country beginning to open up again following the shutdown in many states, Wright asked how agents are preparing for a rebound in the market. For Fonte, it's a matter of top-of-mind awareness and reassuring buyers and sellers.
"It's just a matter of educating people like how we're doing showings," Fonte explained. "If you're not willing to want to go out, we understand that, but if you do have to go out—say your mom has to go in a nursing home and you have to sell her home, how do you do that in a safe manner? Or if you're relocating out of state because you have to take another job. They can't wait for the coronavirus.
"I try to reassure them that if you are in a position where you have to do something, I'm here for you," he continues, "and here are the three or four things we're doing as far as protections, not overlapping showings, and how we also do the virtual walk-through."
While no one can be totally prepared for an event such as a global health pandemic, seasoned agents know what it takes to keep their businesses moving forward. For Fonte, that means consistently staying in touch with the database of customers.
"You want to make sure you don't just have a real estate experience with them and forget them," he explains. "You want them on a plan, an action plan, a workflow. I find the quickest way to do it is by video because I can blast out 80 short videos in an hour or so because you're not really stuck on the phone. Then if it's an older person or if it's someone who doesn't use email, you can use texting, and you can also make a phone call. Many times, people don't answer live, you can just leave them something short and sweet and compelling, to let them know you're thinking of them."
Wright also asked how each agent has, and continues to deal with, the stress of the health crisis, and Fonte was quick to point out that adapting is the best way to approach such an event.
"We have great bike trails and walking trails," he said. "I have a hybrid bike so I can go 15 miles and then on the way back, I can cheat a little bit. I'm all about nature, birds singing, and having a little bit of fun.
"So, it just helps you recharge your batteries and remember, all this hard work we do, what's it's really about?" he concludes. "I'm not cursing the wind, I'm adjusting my sails."
As we all face the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, our first priority at Cutler Real Estate is the health of our clients, employees and the communities where we live and work. We are also committed to supporting our clients through this challenging time.
Many of our clients are still out looking at homes, putting their homes on the market, writing contracts, and closing on life's biggest transaction. As a company, we will be there for our clients.
In order to continue to provide the same high level of support to our clients, our entire organization will have to adapt, adjust and work together like never before.
Much of the news these past few weeks has been regarding the unfortunate events and circumstances caused by COVID-19. Day-by-day and hour-by-hour, news is changing on how to best address the COVID-19 matter.
As your trusted Realtor, I'll stick to real estate and defer to experts like the CDC for how to best address your health and safety. I don't want to minimize the effect this current situation has on other aspects of life, but I wanted to offer some insights and reassurance regarding my area of experience – real estate.
You might be worried about your home's value at this time of economic upheaval. That's understandable and completely valid. The good news is that for most homeowners, the best course of action, as well as the easiest, is to do absolutely nothing. Just sit tight, be thankful that you have a nice place to gather with your loved ones, work from home, or even self-quarantine if needed. At times like this, it becomes abundantly clear that your home is so much more than just an investment.
Fortunately, real estate has historically proven to be a relatively stable and sound investment in times of crisis. For example, Dr. Marci Rossell, a leading economist who specializes in real estate, noted that the housing markets remained stable in the aftermath of 9/11.
The Economic Impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19) on the Real Estate Market from LeadingRE on Vimeo.
In the days and weeks following 9/11, there was a real sense of panic and uncertainty. Airlines completely shut down, conferences and events were canceled, oil and stock prices became hyper-volatile, and news stories predicted economic activity could grind to a halt for quarters if not years. Sound familiar?
Fortunately, the shock that 9/11 delivered to the world economy was short-lived. It was a classic V-shaped economic deceleration characterized by a rapid decline followed by a rapid recovery. Housing markets were the least impacted by 9/11. Unlike the stock and bond markets, real estate markets move very slowly. At a time of economic uncertainty and volatility, based on past events it's a pretty safe bet that real estate will remain a bastion of stability.
For those who are actively in the real estate market currently and wondering how the pandemic will affect buying or selling:
In these days and weeks ahead as news continues to come out about COVID-19, we want you to know that as your trusted real estate adviser we are on the front lines of the market. There are a lot of unknowns, but we will closely monitor the situation and are always available for any of your real estate needs, questions, or concerns.
Wash those hands and give us a call. We welcome the opportunity to be of assistance.
