Summer weather, fantastic food, family fun, and fabulous fireworks can only mean one thing in Northeast Ohio. It's time to celebrate the 4th of July, and, as always, communities across Northeast Ohio will be pulling out all of the stops to celebrate this special day. You're sure to find a great place to celebrate July 4th close to home, and many local events include so much to see that they're spread across multiple days. Get ready to celebrate Independence Day with these eight amazing July 4th events around Northeast Ohio.

Bay Days 2022 Festival

Cahoon Memorial Park East – 27134 Lake Rd., Bay Village, OH 44140

The fun starts early in Bay Village, with the Bay Days 2022 Festival kicking off on June 30 and lasting all the way until the big day on July 4. There will be live music from a different band every night at the park gazebo, along with a Classic Car Cruise-In with live DJ, a Vintage Baseball Game featuring two local club teams, and a Children's Bike, Trike & Wagon Parade. Throughout the festival, attendees can also enjoy carnival rides, delicious food from local vendors, and informative booths from community organizations. It's all capped off by the Gala Fireworks Display, which takes place after dark on the 4th of July.

Avon Lake Independence Day Celebration, Concert & Fireworks

Weiss Field – 33401 Webber Rd., Avon Lake, OH 44102

The Avon Lake Independence Day Celebration, Concert & Fireworks begins at 5:30 pm on Friday, July 1 and lasts until the fireworks light up the sky late in the evening. In between, you'll enjoy an on-stage Independence Day Celebration, along with live performances from Anne E. Dechant, Seeing Scarlet, and a Dave Matthews Tribute Band. Some of your favorite local food trucks will be there all evening to provide outstanding meals, with Jones Bones BBQ, Off the Griddle, Fired Up Tacos, Cathy's Cle & Kona Ice, and Kountry Krunchins among the food trucks set to appear at the celebration.

Valley City 4th of July Parade, Car Show, Music, & Fireworks

Mill Stream Park – 1200 Maple St., Valley City, OH 44280

For a full day of fun on the 4th of July, try a trip to the Valley City 4th of July Parade, Car Show, Music & Fireworks celebration at Mill Stream Park. Begin your day with the 4th of July Parade, which travels down State Route 303, West River, School Street, and Maple Street before ending at Mill Stream Park. Then stick around at the park for the Classic Car Show in the afternoon while enjoying some great concessions for lunch. The evening features a live performance from Soundcheck, followed by a wonderful fireworks display after dusk.

North Canton Community Celebration & Fireworks Display

Hoover High School – 525 7th St. NE, North Canton, OH 44720

Held on the large lawn in front of Hoover High School, the North Canton Community Celebration & Fireworks Display is packed with fun for the whole family. It all starts at 5:30 PM when the food vendors, face painting stations, and children's activities open for the evening. The Scenic Route will be taking the stage a bit later in the evening, playing all of the hits from the past five decades in a free outdoor concert. Of course, you won't want to miss the fireworks display, which takes place shortly after the band leaves the stage.

Aurora July 4th Fun Run, Parade, Festival & Fireworks

Bicentennial Park – 115 E. Pioneer Trail, Aurora, OH 44202

Looking for a healthy, fun way to start your July 4th celebrations? The Aurora July 4th Fun Run, Parade, Festival & Fireworks starts early in the morning with a 5k fun run with awards for the top three finishers in every age bracket from kids to seniors. The July 4th Parade starts after the fun run is complete, followed by the Festival & Grand Marshall Celebration, which lasts all afternoon into the evening, and the fireworks display, which kicks off after dusk.

New Philadelphia First Town Days Festival, Parade & Fireworks

One of Northeast Ohio's largest July 4th celebrations takes place in New Philadelphia, where the 45th annual First Town Days Festival, Parade & Fireworks features five days packed with events from morning through evening. Whether you're interested in a Fishing Derby, Frog Jumping Contest, Turtle Races, Wiffleball Tournament, or some more conventional Independence Day fun, you're sure to find it during this festival. Events take place throughout New Philadelphia, with many of the biggest attractions being located at Tuscora Park.

The Orrville Fire in the Sky 4th of July Celebration is part carnival, part softball tournament, and all family fun. The softball tournament is a major attraction, with three days of games at Orr Park to crown a champion. While the tournament is happening, visitors of all ages can enjoy a free carnival featuring food, carnival games, and rides that the kids are sure to love. It all wraps up on the evening of July 3 with one of the biggest fireworks displays in Northeast Ohio.

Akron Rib, White & Blue Festival

Lock 3 – 200 S. Main St., Akron, OH 44308

Always one of the most anticipated events of the summer in Akron, the Rib, White & Blue Festival is a four-day event focused on fantastic food and live music. There will be a free concert during every night of the festival at Lock 3 in downtown Akron, with Monica Robbins & The Whiskey Kings, Bruce in the USA, Georgia Players Guild Best of Queen, and Creedence Relived all taking the stage on separate nights. The fireworks in Akron take place after the conclusion of the Rubberducks game on July 4, and Lock 3 offers great views of the display.

The annual Light Up the Lake fireworks celebration can be viewed from a variety of great destinations throughout downtown Cleveland, including the beautiful Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica Boardwalk. This event is always a favorite for Northeast Ohio residents, with plenty of activities to enjoy downtown before the fireworks and festivities begin. As an open-air amphitheater with abundant lawn seating that's perfect for a Fourth of July picnic, Jacobs Pavilion is a great place to take in the sights of the evening. But if you have another favorite location, it's easy to see the fireworks display from anywhere downtown.

First Friday Fireworks: Celebrate America in Downtown Wadsworth

Walk through the scenic park lined with flags as your kids learn all about the different red, white, and blue species of animals that call Ohio home, then wrap up your trip with a visit to the Wildlife Conservation Center. This event is available to be enjoyed every day during park hours for the two weeks around the Fourth of July holiday.

While Worthington's annual Rotary Family Picnic is delayed until Labor Day this year, you can still enjoy a festive fireworks display. The Thomas Worthington High School grounds will give viewers plenty of room to watch the annual celebration of the nation's independence. In addition to the stadium, the front lawn and other areas surrounding the venue will be available to attendees. In case of severe weather, the fireworks will be rescheduled with a rain date of Sept. 5th.

New Albany Independence Day Parade & Festival

New Albany Middle School Greenspace – 6600 E. Dublin Granville Rd., New Albany, OH 43054

The New Albany Independence Day Parade & Festival has a special theme this year, with frontline healthcare workers and first responders being honored throughout the day. After the parade, head to New Albany Middle School for a family-friendly festival that includes games for kids, costumed characters, live music, and food from some of Ohio's best food trucks.

City of Dublin Independence Day Celebration

Dublin Community Recreation Center – 5600 Post Rd., Dublin, OH 43017

The City of Dublin Independence Day Celebration features a full day of fun and special events around the city. Whether you're watching or participating, the annual Shem Sheldon Fishing Derby is the perfect way to spend your morning. The Fourth of July Parade is up next, with a parade route that runs throughout downtown Dublin. After the parade, there will be more than five hours of live music from a diverse selection of bands before the evening wraps up with Dublin's annual fireworks display.

Sawyer Point Summer Concert Series Fourth of July Celebration

Coney Island Park Balloon Glow

Colerain Township Fourth of July Spectacular

Get ready for a night of amazing live music and a fantastic fireworks display at the Colerain Township Fourth of July Spectacular. This event is free for everyone to enjoy, and the fun starts with an evening of music from the Classic Rock Experience. After the concert, the skies will light up with a dazzling display of fireworks to close out the evening.

The Fourth of July is on the horizon! We can hardly wait for the many community events happening throughout the Cleveland area, from patriotic cruises to fireworks shows, and everything in between. Mark your calendars for the Independence Day event nearest you for an unforgettable celebration of our nation's birthday!

Ashland Ohio Balloonfest

When: June 27-29, Times Vary Where: Freer Field, Ashland  

While the Ashland Ohio Balloonfest isn't technically a Fourth of July-centered event, it's still a fantastic way to kick off the patriotic week! This famous festival has been going strong for over 29 years, featuring a splendor of colorful hot air balloons rising high above you and decorating the Ashland sky throughout the weekend. There are also plenty of other fun activities, including a balloon glow, balloon races, stage performances, sports tournaments, food and so much more!  

Bay Days

When: July 3-6, Times Vary Where: Cahoon Park, Bay Village Live music, a classic car cruise-in, magic shows, carnival rides and a children's bike/trike/wagon parade are only some of the fun activities Bay Village has in store for you this Fourth of July! Plus, their festive fireworks display will begin at dusk, so settle in with a funnel cake and a freshly squeezed lemonade and enjoy the show!  

City of Independence Independence Day Celebration Fireworks

When: July 3, 7-10 p.m. Where: Elmwood Park, Independence 4th of July in Cleveland Is there a better way to celebrate Independence Day than in Independence, Ohio? This town goes all out for the holiday, setting up a fabulous fireworks display along with booths for food, beverages and games for you to enjoy! Bring your family, friends and neighbors because you're sure to have a fantastic time.  

Cleveland Pops Orchestra & Fireworks

When: July 3, 7:30-10:30 p.m. Where: Perici Amphitheater, Twinsburg Head down to Twinsburg this holiday and celebrate Independence Day with some great music! The Cleveland Pops Orchestra will be performing a variety of patriotic songs to get you in the spirit before the annual fireworks extravaganza. The entire family is welcome — grab your tickets here.  

Light Up the Point

When: July 4-6, Times Vary Where: Cedar Point, Sandusky Celebrate Independence Day with a bigger bang than ever before! Every night, Cedar Point will feature a spectacular fireworks show, pie eating contests and so much more. Plus, during this three-day event, Cedar Point will be offering free admission to active, retired or honorably discharged military members and active first responders.  

Lakewood Fourth of July Celebration

When: July 4, 10 a.m.-10:30 p.m. Where: Lakewood Park, Lakewood 4th of July in Cleveland Spend the entire day celebrating in Lakewood! The city's parade will kick off the day at 10 a.m. on Lake Avenue and will end at Lakewood Park, where games and activities will run all afternoon long. A featured concert from the Lakewood High School Youth Orchestra will provide some entertainment in the evening before the fireworks extravaganza concludes the day at 9:45 p.m.  

Grindstone Festival

When: July 4-6, 4-10 p.m. Where: Coe Lake Park, Berea This three-day free, family-friendly festival will feature paddleboat rides, an outdoor movie showing, live bands, carnival rides and local vendors from all over Berea! There will even be a parade featuring veterans and community groups marching through downtown past the Triangle. A breathtaking fireworks display over Coe Lake will conclude the evening.  

4th of July Fireworks Cruise

When: July 4, 6-11:30 p.m. Where: Goodtime III Enjoy a night of dinner, dancing, live music and fireworks while sailing along Lake Erie! Tickets to this unique Fourth of July celebration start at $35 and depend on your viewing level and dinner order. Boarding starts at 6 p.m. and reservations are required.  

Rock n' Boom

When: July 4, 8-11 p.m. Where: The Great Lakes Science Center 4th of July in Cleveland

Celebrate Independence Day from the most patriotic vantage point in Cleveland: aboard the William G. Mather steamship! Food and drinks will be available for purchase in the Great Lakes Science Center café. Tickets start at $16, and are just $13 if you're a museum member. Guests are welcome (and encouraged!) to bring blankets and chairs aboard to watch the show.  

Strongsville Fourth of July Fireworks

When: July 4, 10 p.m. Where: Strongsville Athletic Field We can't think of a better place to celebrate America's birthday than the picturesque city of Strongsville. This year, their annual fireworks display will commence at dusk, around 10 p.m., at the Strongsville Athletic Field. So pack up your blanket or lawn chairs and settle in to watch the show!  

Homedays on the Green

When: July 11-14, Times Vary Where: Broadview Heights Community and Recreation Center 4th of July in Cleveland

13 Fourth of July Events + Fireworks Displays in Columbus, Ohio

Independence Day is rapidly approaching, which means the citizens of Columbus are gearing up for another year of fireworks, friends, family and freedom! There is so much going on in the area this year to celebrate the occasion. So much, in fact, that it might be difficult to decide which events to attend! We rounded up some of the most notable Fourth of July events in Columbus this year to help you plan your weekend, including dazzling fireworks displays, live concerts and family-friendly festivals. So grab your red, white and blue garb and head out to celebrate America!  

The Columbus Symphony's Patriotic Pops

Where: Columbus Association for the Performing Arts, Columbus When: June 29, 8 p.m. This summer tradition with the Columbus Symphony is always a night to remember. Come enjoy an evening of patriotic favorites and Sousa marches with brilliant light displays. Of course, the beloved event would not be complete without fireworks, which will take place after the show.  

2019 Fourth of July Celebration

Where: Worthington Hills When: June 29-30 & July 4, Times Vary Fourth of July

This annual Independence Day event stretches the festivities to last almost an entire week! On June 29th, join the city of Worthington Hills for a fun-filled 5K run/walk through the Hills and then participate in a family-friendly game of softball at Worthington Hills Elementary School. On June 30th, head out once more for the Fun Fest, a family carnival full of all of your favorite activities. And finally, on the big day itself, July 4th, watch the festive neighborhood parade and experience the most unique patriotic display around — a drone show!  

Ashville 4th of July Celebration

Where: Ashville Community Park When: June 30-July 4, Times Vary For more than 80 years, locals and visitors alike have gathered in the heart of Ashville to celebrate our nation's freedom in style. People come from miles around to experience the festival's famous fish sandwiches (which are delicious), the live entertainment and the pageants. On the Fourth of July, the day kicks off with a parade, continues with entertainment, food and contests, and concludes with a spectacular fireworks show.  

Charity Day 5K

Where: Downtown Columbus When: July 2, 6:30 p.m Give back to a cause you care about — and work off some of those burgers and brats while you're at it! Don't miss the Charity Day 5K, a running and walking event that takes place in the streets of downtown Columbus. During registration, participants can choose their beneficiary to be sure they're racing for a cause they truly care about. After you cross the finish line, enjoy a post-race party hosted by Red, White & Boom.  

Red, White & BOOM!

Where: Downtown Columbus When: July 3, 10 a.m. Fourth of July in Columbus

Red, White & BOOM! began in 1981 when 30,000 locals gathered in Bicentennial Park to watch a small fireworks display. Since then, it has grown into the largest Fourth of July event in Columbus and one of the most widely recognized fireworks displays in the entire Midwest region!  

Ballpark BOOM

Where: Huntington Park When: July 3, 5:30-11 p.m. Come celebrate America's independence in style at Huntington Park. This family-friendly event will feature live entertainment on the field, ziplining, bounce houses and concessions for sale. After sunset, you'll be able to catch a glimpse of the Red, White and Boom fireworks show.  

Sunbury Independence Day Celebration

Where: Sunbury Square When: July 4, 7 a.m.-11 p.m. Join the Village of Sunbury for their 2019 July 4th Celebration! Head to Sunbury Square in the morning for an Antiques, Arts & Crafts event and then stick around to watch the parade and a hot dog eating contest. After you've got your fill of hot dogs, watch the kiddos enjoy bounce houses, midway games, face painting and a petting zoo at the Kids Zone. End the day with the 4th Annual Outhouse Race and a fireworks extravaganza at Big Walnut High School!  

Upper Arlington Independence Day Parade and Party in the Park

Where: Northam Park When: July 4, 6:30 a.m. Fourth of July in Columbus Upper Arlington really loves the 4th of July. So much so, that at 6:30 in the morning on Independence Day, you'll find helpful volunteers hustling through the streets to noisily announce that the much anticipated day of celebration has begun. After the entire city has had their annual wake up call, you'll find them lining the intersection of Northwest Boulevard and Zollinger Road to watch one of the best parades in the Columbus area. Plus — don't miss the evening party in the park and fireworks display that will conclude the evening.  

2019 Clintonville July 4th Celebration

Where: Clintonville When: July 4, 8 a.m. Every year, Clintonville puts on one of the biggest Independence Day celebrations around. This year, enjoy a four-mile race through the park, a community breakfast, a family baseball and softball game, a pet and bike parade, a fishing derby, a live music festival and fabulous fireworks! Bexley 4th of July Celebrations

Where: Bexley When: July 4, 9:30 a.m. Bexley loves throwing events for good causes and their annual 4th of July celebrations are no different. This year's theme is "The Land That I Love" to celebrate all of the "Green" initiatives throughout the Bexley area! The parade will be starting at 9:30 a.m. sharp, rain or shine, so head down to Main Street and enjoy watching locals, floats and some horses march through the streets promoting the area's eco-friendly practices. Afterward, spend the day celebrating with family events, music and, of course, food before watching a festive fireworks display at 10 p.m.  

The 36th Annual Doo Dah Parade

Where: Short North When: July 4, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Fourth of July in Columbus If you're looking for something a bit more "political" to do this Independence Day, head down to the Short North district and watch the 36th Annual Doo Dah Parade. This free event features the "best political satire parade west of the White House" along with some great food and great live music. This year's lineup is full of fantastic local talents like Doc Robinson and the Devil Doves. You can find the full, impressive lineup and list of events on their website.  

2019 Granville 4th of July Fireworks

Where: Wildwood Park When: July 5, 8 p.m. The Granville 4th of July Fireworks event is a family favorite every year. After you've had a blast at the annual Downtown Granville festival, head to Wildwood park to continue the celebration! Set up your blankets and chairs and enjoy the live music while you wait for the spectacular fireworks display — and don't forget to grab some fresh kettle corn and lemonade from local vendors before the big show begins.
