7 Places to Sip a Cool Summer Treat in Northern Kentucky
Summer means warmer temperatures, which are mostly a good thing. But when it gets too hot and you want to cool off, ordering a milkshake or iced coffee can help you chill out. Fortunately, Northern Kentucky has several great locations serving up these cold drinks near Boone County homes for sale. Many also serve food items, so you can enjoy a burger with your milkshake or a pastry with your coffee, and you'll even be able to order a boozy milkshake if you'd like to, although it's also available without the alcohol.
When you're ready to cool off and treat yourself, head to one of the following seven places to order a milkshake or iced coffee in Northern Kentucky.
Fillmore's Dairy Hut

A nostalgic staple of Florence for years, Fillmore's Dairy Hut is the type of place that adults fondly remember going to as kids with their parents or heading to after school or a sporting event, and now they're returning with their own kids. Order a burger, footlong cheese coney topped with homemade Cincinnati-style chili, or other traditional favorite with your milkshake, and you'll be pleasantly surprised at the reasonable prices. Milkshakes come in flavors, including strawberry, blueberry, chocolate chip, butterscotch, and peanut butter.

Graeter's Ice Cream traces its roots back to 1870 in Cincinnati when its founder began selling ice cream from two carts. At the time, it was hand-crafted in French pots. The result is indulgent, delicious ice cream that translates into the same qualities in their milkshakes. An Inside Look Into Eat, Purr, Love: Central Ohio's First Cat Cafe

In July 2018, after Eat, Purr, Love founder Chrissy Kuras moved out of state, Columbus Humane took ownership of the café. Since then, they've continued adopting out cats at an extremely high rate — 92 in just the months of August-December 2018. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution even named them as one of the 14 best cat cafés in the United States. While some things have changed after the acquisition (they now offer pour-over coffee!), many things remain the same, such as their mission to "Fight animal cruelty, help animals in need and advocate for their well-being." And, according to the café manager Emma Walsh, they "will still act as a space that brings together our love of adoptable cats, coffee and the community."

The café is a fantastic place to relax with a good book, play a board game or just sit and watch cats roam. They offer freshly-brewed, locally-roasted coffee, as well as other drink options like tea and hot cocoa. You can purchase prepackaged, 100% vegan bakery items provided by Pattycake Bakery or you're welcome to bring your own snacks with you. They even hold fun cat-themed events at the café throughout the month, including Yogatos, which is a unique yoga session with cats; Kids & Kitties, a fun cat-themed storytime for children and their parents; and Purrs and Palettes, where you paint a fun picture with a cat by your side.

If you'd like to pay a visit to Eat, Purr, Love, they recommend that you make a reservation. While walk-ins are always welcome when space allows, making a reservation will ensure that you get some good quality kitty-time.
