Every Saturday, this beautiful park offers a free, timed 5K perfect for runners, walkers, dog owners and families. The course follows the beautiful trails of Sippo Lake Park and includes sights like the new Wildlife Conservation Center, wetlands and a limestone trail. Purchase vegetable, herb and flower seedlings at the Let's Grow Akron and First Congregational Church of Akron's fundraiser this Memorial Day weekend. While you're there, you can enjoy live music, tours of the Feed My Sheep market garden and plenty of family-friendly activities. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Let's Grow Akron Community Farm and the Feed My Sheep Garden. Where: Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad Peninsula Depot When: May 26, 1:55 p.m. Climb aboard this half-loop excursion for an afternoon stuffed with family fun! Children will have the chance to create their own stuffed animals all while taking in the beautiful sights of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Departure is from the Peninsula Depot and will loop back over the course of two hours. Where: Green High School and Veterans Park, Uniontown When: May 27, 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Head over to the City of Green this Memorial Day for a plethora of fun events to celebrate the holiday! The popular parade will begin and end at the Green High School parking lot, winding its way through town with colorful floats and American flags. Afterward, visit the Veterans Memorial Park for a memorial ceremony honoring fallen soldiers and veterans. All proceeds from the festival will go to help restore Nowhere Else's 140-year-old barn into a performing arts center. Where: Spring Grove Cemetery & Arboretum When: May 24-27, Times Vary The Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum will host a number of ceremonial events throughout the weekend. The festivities will begin on Thursday at 5 p.m. with the local Cub Scouts' flag planting ceremony. Where: McDonald Commons Veteran's Memorial, Madeira When: May 27, 10 a.m. The city of Madeira invites you to join them on their annual silent Memorial Day March. The march will travel north on Miami Avenue and then west on Dawson Road, ending with a brief ceremony at the Veterans Memorial at McDonald Commons. Where: Reed Hartman Highway, Blue Ash When: May 27, 10:15 a.m. Don't miss one of Cincinnati's longest standing traditions: the Blue Ash Memorial Day Parade. This annual parade will celebrate its 67th year in 2019, beginning at 10:15 a.m. at the intersection of Reed Hartman Highway and Cooper Road. You can watch it go around a 1.6-mile loop, ending at the Veterans' Memorial on Towne Square, where the festivities will conclude with a special ceremony. Where: Green Township Veterans Park When: May 27, 2-3 p.m. Head over to Green Township for a beautiful, annual Memorial Day ceremony run by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10380. The family-friendly ceremony will take place in the area's patriotic plaza, Veterans Park, in the shadow of the township's Veterans Tribute Bell and is a great way to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
