8 Places to Pick Apples Around Northeast Ohio
Sweater weather is here, and that means it's time to enjoy all the fun fall-themed activities that come along with it. There are many fun things to do in Northeast Ohio this time of year, and heading out to an orchard to pick your own apples is one of the best.
Not only will you be able to enjoy your delicious haul of apples for weeks, but many local apple orchards also host fall festivals and other fun events. Here's a round-up of some of our favorite local spots to go apple picking.
Arrowhead Orchard

A visit to Arrowhead Orchard is always a good time! You can enjoy a hayride through the farm with special stops so you can hop off and pick your own apples. They also have a pumpkin patch, a stunning you-cut sunflower field, and fresh-pressed apple cider.
Bring the kids — they'll love the two-acre corn maze. There's also a huge outdoor play area with a children's zip-line, a pedal car track, lots of slides, a corn pit, an obstacle course, and more! You can also try your hand at the apple cannons, where you can take aim and shoot at your favorite targets.
Arrowhead Orchard is open Friday through Monday until October 25th. Admission ranges from $5 to $10, and they also offer free parking.
Patterson Fruit Farm

Patterson Fruit Farm offers something for everyone. They provide wagon rides through the orchard and have a wide variety of apples available. If you can, plan to visit during their Family Fun Fest, which runs through October 31st.
During the festival, they'll have tons of things for kids to do, including a 50-foot racing slide, a corn maze, pedal tractors, tire swings, push carts, and more. They'll also have face painting and pumpkin painting, pony rides, and horse-drawn wagon rides on designated days.
Patterson Fruit Farm is open Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 6 pm with a $6 per person admission cost, and Friday through Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm with a $10 per person admission cost. Kids under 2 are free, and seniors are $6 every day.
Hillside Orchard and Farm Market

If you want a great selection of tasty treats to enjoy at home, you'll definitely want to pay a visit to Hillside Orchard. Not only can you pick delicious, juicy apples right off the tree, but you can also visit their farm market for fresh-baked bread and bagels, jams, jellies, preserves, special canned items like marinades and sauces, locally famous fruit pies, and more!
Many of the items you'll find here are from the nearby Amish community. You also won't want to miss out on their almost-famous frozen apple cider. They sell it by both the gallon and half-gallon.
Apple picking will be available for four weeks beginning October 6th. The orchard is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm and Sundays from 12 pm to 5 pm. In October, they're open on Mondays as well.
Hillcrest Orchards

You'll find a nice selection of pick-your-own apple varieties at Hillcrest Orchards. Through October, you can also visit their pumpkin patch to pick your own pumpkin. In addition, the orchard hosts lots of fun fall activities like a corn maze, hayrides, pedal karts, a playground and swing set, and more.
U-pick is available through October 23rd on weekends only from 10 am to 6 pm. The admission cost to visit the farm is $12 per person. Kids 3 and under and seniors 73 and older get in for free.
Stahl's Farm Market
10680 N. Johnson Rd., North Benton, OH 44449
Through October, you can visit Stahl's Farm Market to pick your own apples. They'll give you a container to use, and you can either drive or walk out to the orchard. This is a great way to enjoy the fresh air and take in the sights of the country. During October, you can pick your own pumpkins there too.
When you're done with your apple picking, don't forget to visit the store, where you can buy non-pasteurized cider, assorted jams and jellies, fresh-baked bread, and more. They're open 7 days a week from 10 am to 6 pm.
Bauman Orchards

You'll love the easy-to-reach dwarf apple trees at Bauman Orchards! Even better, they constantly have fun and interesting events happening onsite. If you can, plan to visit them for their final Fall Festival date on October 2nd from 8 am to 5 pm.
During the festival, you'll be able to pick your own apples and enjoy both apple cider and cider donuts that are made fresh while you watch. There will also be a food truck, live music, pony rides, and a chance to visit with their farm animals.
Miller Orchards

If you want to take a step back in time, pay a visit to Miller Orchards. This family-owned farm has been around since the mid-1800s! They have a huge variety of u-pick apples available throughout the season. They also carry many other items like local maple syrup, local raw honey, squash, pumpkins, and more.
Miller Orchards is open from 9 am to 6 pm Monday through Saturday and is closed on Sundays.
Richardson Farms

There's plenty to explore at Richardson Farms! They have a variety of pick-your-own apples available and a pumpkin patch where you can pick your own pumpkin. You can also stock up your kitchen at their farm stand, where you'll find a nice selection of fresh-grown vegetables, herbs, and fruit.
A farm isn't a farm without animals! They welcome visitors to spend some time with their cows, pigs, chickens, and turkeys. You can also take a hayride around the farm. The hours here vary, so you'll want to give them a call at 330-722-4029 before you head out.

Royalton Farms

Family-owned and operated since 1982, Royalton Farms has 7 acres of trees producing 15 different varieties of apples. They also have a landscaping nursery, an apple-processing barn with a cider mill, and a market barn. It's also home to Cuyahoga County's only working cider press. In addition to fresh-picked apples, you can get a variety of produce in their market including peaches, tomatoes, zucchini, and pumpkins. You'll also find local honey, fruit butters, baking mixes, cookbooks, and more! Royalton Farms is open through November on Tuesday through Sunday from 10 am until 6 pm. They're closed on Mondays.
Miller Orchards

If you're looking for variety, you'll find it at Miller Orchards. They grow 23 different varieties of apples as well as cherries and peaches. Depending on weather conditions, in season they also carry plums, nectarines, cantaloupe, pears, and watermelon. This family-owned farm has been in business for more than four generations. Locals and visitors enjoy this orchard's quality products, honest prices, and family-friendly atmosphere. Miller Orchards is open Monday through Saturday from 9 am until 6 pm. They're closed on Sundays.
Hillside Orchard and Farm Market

There's so much to do at Hillside Orchard and Farm Market, you can easily spend a whole day here. Whether you want to pick up your apples from their store or head out to the orchard to pick your own, you'll love their delicious crops. If you have a sweet tooth, you're in luck! They carry 11 flavors of Hershey's brand hard-dipped ice cream, famous fruit pies, and frozen apple cider. They also have jams, jellies, preserves, salad dressings, marinades, bbq sauces, dips, and fresh-baked breads. Mark your calendar for the second weekend in October so you don't miss their Annual Harvest Festival. The kids will love the horse-drawn hayride, playground, and challenging pumpkin maze. Hillside Orchard is open until December 23rd. Their hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday from noon until 5 pm. They're closed on Mondays, except for the Monday before Halloween.

Hillcrest Orchard offers pick-your-own sunflowers, pumpkins, and 14 different varieties of apples. But that's not all! There are plenty of family-friendly fall activities that everyone is sure to love. You won't want to miss the Space Exploration Corn Maze, complete with seven different puzzle stations! The kids will also love the barrel train, corn box, hay tunnel, hayride, pedal karts, sandbox, and the playground, swing set, and spider webs. Best of all, each of these activities is included in the price of admission. The farm market is open daily from 10 am until 6 pm September 1st through November 8th. The U-pick, maze, and activities are open weekends only from 10 am until 6 pm from September 7th through October 27th.
Blue Jay Orchard

The oldest pick-your-own apple orchard in Geauga County, Blue Jay Orchard has been a family tradition for generations. They grow 27 varieties of apples as well as peaches and blueberries. Head out to pick your own, or get some from their market. You'll also find local Ohio food products, assorted gifts, and all things fall-related. Blue Jay Orchard's opening hours vary. You'll want to give them a call at 440.834.4318 for more information.
Arrowhead Orchard

When you head to Arrowhead Orchard, make sure you leave plenty of time to enjoy all the great things this farm has to offer. You can choose to pick your own apples or get them from the onsite farm market. You can also pick your own sunflowers and pumpkins. The entry price includes unlimited hayrides, a corn maze, and a sunflower walk. The kids will also love the hay mountain, tire climb, hamster run, train cart ride, obstacle course, and more. There's also a zip line ride! You'll want to visit the market, where you'll find cider, peaches, nectarines, honey, and a variety of other food and gift items. The farm market is open Monday through Saturday from 9 am until 6 pm and Sunday from noon until 6 pm. Fall activities and U-pick run through September 4th until October 26th, Monday, Friday, and Saturday from noon until 6 pm. They're closed on Labor Day.
Kuner's Fruit Farm

Kuner's Fruit Farm offers pick-your-own apples and also sells award-winning cider, honey, plums, and apple butter. If you want to get away from the commercialism and spend some quality time with your family, this is the place to do it. Kuner's fruit farm is open daily from 9 am until 7 pm until the end of Thanksgiving weekend.
Bauman Orchards

A staple of Rittman since 1929, Bauman Orchards is a 260-acre orchard with 48,500 apple trees and 9,200 peach trees. They offer 25 different varieties of apples and 15 varieties of peaches. They also press their own cider, which you can find in their farm market along with homemade pies, cookies, produce, and gift baskets. You'll want to check out the orchard's website every once in a while because they host several exciting festivals throughout the year. Mark your calendar for September 19th so you can visit the Harvest Days festival. In addition to U-pick apples, you'll also enjoy homemade cider donuts, a food truck, live music, and pony rides. The kids will also love painting their own pumpkins and meeting the farm animals! Bauman Orchards is open year-round Monday through Friday from 8 am until 6 pm and Saturday from 8 am until 5 pm. They're closed on Sundays and all major holidays.

The Akron and Canton area was built on a strong agricultural history. As a result, we're blessed with year-round farmers' markets, local agriculture experiences and plenty of places to pick a pumpkin and sip fresh apple cider every fall.
To prove it, we rounded up a few of our favorite local spots where you can pick your own pumpkin, pick your own apples, watch your cider being pressed and eat plenty of pumpkin and apple donuts before enjoying festive, farm activities. Arrowhead Orchard

2019 marks 87 years of community service, family fun and of course, delicious apples at Arrowhead Orchard! The farm is open seven days a week, but you'll want to visit during one of their family fun weekends this year—which will run until October 20. Each weekend, Friday-Sunday, will feature a corn maze, hayrides, a hamster run, a zip-line for children, an apple train and so much more.
Beckwith Orchards Cider Mill
The Beckwith Orchards Cider Mill has been a family-owned and -operated farm market for over 125 years—and it isn't hard to see why they've been so successful. Not only do they offer delicious, home-grown fruits and vegetables, but they also have a full bakery where you can get a freshly baked pie or cookie! This fall, don't miss the opportunity to take a stroll through the orchard or an autumn bike ride on the adjacent Portage County Hike and Bike Trail. If you want to learn even more about the orchard, educational tours are available by appointment.
Dussel Farm
This quaint, family-owned farm has been in operation since 1948, accumulating over 70 years of experience in growing, harvesting and celebrating. During the fall, that culminates into a massive Pumpkin Festival, complete with thousands of pumpkins, a corn maze, a scary bus, witches, a craft barn and tons of tasty treats!
Geig's Orchard

Geig's might be a perfect locale for a fun-filled day of apple picking, but it's also a top-notch place to grab a fresh-pressed apple cider, pie fillings, jams and more. Locals wait all year for the market to open so they can ring in the fall season properly!
Guyette Farms

Since 1945, the family at Guyette Farms has grown and raised a wide range of agricultural products including hay, corn, oats, hormone-free beef, honey and maple syrup. During the fall months, you can get lost in their giant corn maze, which will be open this year from September 21st until October 27th on Saturdays and Sundays.
Heritage Farms

For over a hundred years, Heritage Farms has been a picturesque setting for farm fun and special events. This year, their fall festival, Pumpkin Pandemonium, will run from September 28 through October 29 and will include a harvest maze, relaxing hayrides, pumpkin rolling, skee ball, a straw tunnel, a coloring wall and plenty of pumpkins for you to pick!
Kingsway Pumpkin Farm

Kingsway Pumpkin Farm is a favorite amongst northeast Ohio families for a number of reasons—the gigantic and ornate maze, wagon rides, animals, corn box, straw tunnel and the pick-your-own pumpkin patch are just a few! Come see what all the fuss is about starting opening day (September 14) and on weekends through the beginning of November.
Maize Valley Winery
While Maize Valley Winery is mainly known for their award-winning wine, they are a perfect destination for families in the fall! When you stop by between the months of September and October, you'll be treated to an 8-acre corn maze, wagon rides, a pumpkin jump pad, an animal train, pumpkin cannon demonstrations, a "Goat-a-Palooza", a chicken run and so much more. Plus, adults will have a blast exploring their market—which is full of homegrown produce, savory meats, fresh breads and delectable cheeses— and tasting a few of their fantastic wines!
Nickajack Farms

Nestled in the adorable community of North Lawrence, Nickajack Farms is a family-owned and -operated farm that grows quality grass hay. In the fall, you definitely won't want to miss the Fall Festival, where Nickajack turns into an autumn wonderland! The festival will run from mid-September through October and will feature a pick-your-own-pumpkin patch, a corn maze, barnyard animals, tractor train rides, a discovery barn, midway games, play areas and more!
Ramseyer Farms
Ramseyer is the place to be on September weekends and even well into October. Here, you'll find a wide variety of activities to engage kids from sunup to sundown, including hayrides, slides, animals, pedal cart race tracks and pumpkin picking! But the real star of the show is Ramseyer Farms' two giant corn mazes that are a sight to behold from above. One is shaped like the entire state of Ohio while the other twists and turns into a massive mural of dinosaurs! Each maze features approximately 2 miles of trails—so make sure to allow 30-60 minutes to complete it. Have smaller children? Visit their mini-maze which will only take about 10-15 minutes!
Szalay's Sweet Corn Farm

Szalay's Farm first opened in 1931 as a vegetable farm. Now, after 88 years and four generations, they've evolved into a specialized sweet corn farm and an old-fashioned farm market that offers a wide variety of fruits and veggies fresh from the fields. Recently voted Akron's Best Farm Market, Szalay's is open all year long, but we definitely recommend that you stop by in the fall for their spectacular Fall Corn Maze! Their 3-acre maze will challenge you and your family all day, and when you finally find the way out, you can enjoy a refreshing pressed cider to celebrate!

If you make the hour-long journey to Bauman Orchards in Rittman, you will be treated to more than 40,000 apple trees and 18 different varieties (10 available to pick yourself). Visitors can pick their own apples from September 1 through October 13, and afterwards, are invited to enjoy fresh-pressed apple cider (and maybe a few baked goods) in the market. Sage's Apples is celebrating its 151st anniversary this year and it's no surprise why it has been so successful for so long! The farm grows more than 50 varieties of apples and sells a wide range of fresh produce in its market year-round. While you aren't actually able to pick-your-own apples at this location, the market offers several delicious varieties that you won't be able to find anywhere else, as well as a spectacular selection of melons, berries, peppers, corn and other local fruits and vegetables.
